Our Story:
Brite Delights Candle Co. was started in 2008 by 4 friends, Ashlie and Ryan Elmer, Jeremy and Carrie Vickrey. We wanted to start a candle company that could make candles that would smell as great as all those big names but not get all that black soot all over the jars or your house. So we came up with our collection of Soy candles and lead free wicks and the highest scented fragrance oils we could find. With our all-natural goal in mind we have decided not to add color, (unless requested) since we have not been able to find natural dyes.
Our Wax:
All our candles are made with an all-natural soy wax that holds lots of fragrance oil and helps reduce frosting. It has been a favorite of soy candle makers everywhere! It has been very consistent over time, and gives a smooth and creamy appearance - mostly due to its low melt point. While this helps create a nice look and helps to reduce frosting, it can sometimes be too soft for the summer heat. For the hotter summer months we use a soy wax with a higher melt point, like the GB 444. Most of our candles are made with Golden Brands 464, which holds lots of fragrance, but even better, it throws fragrance very well. There are other soy waxes that hold as much, but we've found that if you put the 464 up against other waxes - all with the same amount of fragrance - you get the best fragrance throw with the 464.
Our Wicks:
We have tried several different wicks since we started, and the wicks we have found to give us the best results are the ECO brand wicks, which are a specialty flat cotton wick with thin interwoven paper threads. The treated paper threads combined with an advanced braiding technique give the ECO series superior stability without the need for a core. This combination enhances the self-trimming effect and reduces mushrooming, soot and smoke. We have found that they work the best if you trim just a bit off before each light as to keep the flame at a preferred burn height.
Our Scent:
All our scents are made from the highest quality natural essential fragrance oils. For years candles have been made from the standard paraffin wax, therefore all fragrance oils were created to be most compatible with the genetic make up of paraffin. The fragrance oils we use in our candles have been genetically configured to be most compatible in soy waxes. Not just any fragrance oils will perform in soy wax.
